By BI: Washington Times The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a Muslim Brotherhood front group, has condemned Sunday’s attack outside a Muhammad drawing contest in Texas, but put the blame on the event’s organizers for seeking to provoke “mutual hostility and mistrust” in the U.S.
“We condemn yesterday’s attack on an anti-Islam event in Garland, Texas, without reservation,” but “We also reiterate our view that violence in response to anti-Islam programs like the one in Garland is more insulting to our faith than any cartoon, however defamatory. Bigoted speech can never be an excuse for violence.”
The organization then provided several links to articles critical of Pamela Geller, an organizer of the Garland event and co-founder of the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), which CAIR notes is labeled a hate group by the far left communist Southern Poverty Law Center.
“Unfortunately, human history shows us that hatred breeds more hatred, and extremism leads to more extremism,” CAIR continued. “Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer, Geert Wilders and the perpetrators of yesterday’s attack all seek to provoke a downward spiral of mutual hostility and mistrust in America and around the world.”
Corey Saylor, Muslim convert and spokesman for CAIR claims to support freedom of speech while accusing Geller of poking her finger in people’s eyes and comparing her tactics to those of the Islamic State (ISIS).
